7 paper cups (plain preferably)
Markers, crayons, or paint
Scissors or craft knife
Take one paper cup and draw Bommi’s face and traditional attire at the top — this will be your top cup.
Color another paper cup and write the letters ற், ன், ள் spaced around the cup. This will be your base cup
Take the rest of the cups and reduce the height of the cups progressively so you can stack them on top of the other.
On each cup write three letters, one each from vallinam, mellinam and idaiyinam respectively. Take care to maintain the same spacing as the previous cup
Stack the cups one over the other and we are done!
Randomly rotate the cups so the Tamil letters appear mixed up.
Challenge children to spell out letters in a category – vallinam or mellinam or idaiyinam by rotating and aligning the letters correctly.
Alternatively, dismantle all the cups and let children re-stack them in the correct order of letters.
